Default Flag question

Wally... I only fly a Pirate's Flag.... off the flag post on the stern
rail. It's perfectly legal if you have a parrot.

| Where's the proper place to fly a Jolly Roger? The masthead?
|
| And, am I right in thinking that it shouldn't be flown when in port?

Getting conflicting information on the correct etiquette regarding location.
I'd have thought that the masthead would be the best place, since it can be
most readily seen.

When your boat's called 'Hispaniola', the flag's a requirement. That said, I
don't what the thinking is behind those owl-shaped seagull scarers - you'd
think the makers would have the gumption and imagination to make them
parrot-shaped...

I just bought a Pirate 2 weeks ago.....for a party we were having on an
Island......We flew it so pop, mom and the kids would not land on the
beach......as it's popular

It worked really well...boats would see the flag and pass by.......Knowing
that there was a serious party going on.....

By the way a good pirate flag we set you back $45 bucks Canadian.....

I would fly it anywhere on my boat....... as everyone knows it's just a
joke.....

But I'm sure some people would find it offensive if you flew it from the
stern pole.....

I got a 3x2' nylon or polyester one on eBay for 3ukp. Decent quality,
printed, with grommets rather than rope and toggles.

Indeed. I plan to use it to strike terror into the hearts of next season's
race fleet in the slow yacht class.

They're welcome to put on their 'Little Admiral' hats and fly insults from
their signal halyards.

Wally... when you're a Pirate... you just don't ask for permission nor
partake of etiquette. Fly the darned Flag anywhere it pleases you. If some
fool comes up alongside and laments the fact... have your crew stand to the
rail and drop their "gunports" to adequately fire a proper barge of
"Moons"....

I carry one of those stuffed plush Parrots... [it was a gift from the Girls
on my last Hen Frigate Tour].

BTW... you should really get a good Pirates Hat! [ not one of those lame gay
Greek Fisherman's Hats like Oz wears]

So far, the offers to crew have been from women. I'm not sure if they'd be
into firing off a barrage of moons (mind you, they could fire them inboard
to the cockpit...).

A mate of mine has one of those in his conservatory - it has batteries and
says things like 'pretty polly' when you pull a cord.

Been thinking about the hat, and the eye patch, but I draw the line before
the peg leg. As for the Greek Fisherman's Hat, gimme a break - I'm not some
nancy boy!
