Bob,

I would appreciate it if you could translate the above into English.

It seems to suggest that you were backed into a corner, and that you tried
(unsuccessfully) to bluff your way out!

Since Booby seems unable to answer this basic question, I'll do my best with the limited
info and resources I have at hand. I believe the time of ALien's entrance was 2AM on
Saturday, August 23. Low water was 35 minutes later, at 2:35AM. I think the current
corresponds closely to the tide height here, so ALien entered at the end of the Ebb. Had
she entered as had been planned, at 1:30, it would have been more than an hour before low.
I don't know how strong the current was that day, or the profile of the current at that
site, but the Ebb could have been as strong as 1.5 knots in the channel. Had they arrived
45 minutes earlier than planned they might have had a 2.5 knot ebb.

Booby also doesn't recall the wind direction - had it been strong from the NW this would
have been a very sloppy endeavor.

I find it very disappointing that these basic parameters were not worked out in advance,
and etched well into RB's memory.

That might explain why he stopped to eat??? If they had arrived 2 hours
earlier then the current flowing out of the harbour would have been at it's
maximum.

So, Bob might be just pretending to know nothing about navigation.

I'll never understand why people can't just enjoy something and not try to
unwind it.
Avoiding the max current was a good idea though, we should have waited another
hour, but I was sleepy!

Are you now saying that you planned your entry to coincide with slack water?

No friggin way and you'll not make that stick! We cooked steak and fish and
THAT determined the length of our wait.
