dedicated double socket, but they will be hidden. A flip of the
switch will have the inverter replace the shore power, ... Care to elucidate on the wiring for this? I haven't installed it yet, so I haven't worked it out. When installed, the two aft sockets will work with the inverter. Suzanne's blow dryer is 12v anyway. RB |

After 8 years, I strike a rock which is charted, because I misjudged my
distance from Potters Field. What's more is that I admit to making this silly error. If I recall correctly, there was an observer aboard who posts here. We have no idea how many rocks were hit and not reported here. |

My boat doesn't have any power at present, although
I'll probably want to add that somewhere down the line. Since the marina has shore power, it would be good to have an idea of how things connect up. With such a small boat I wouldn't bother with this. Simply run an extension cord for what you need. Ghost (My pearson 30) had a heavy duty cord that ran right through a vent and that worked fine. Alien has a pretty complex power system for such a small boat, but the inverter was never installed. RB |

A chart kit is not a 'chart'. It's a scaled down version of a chart.
You said charts which means NOAA govt. charts. For example the NOAA chart for Puerto Rico and Virgin Islands is numbered 25640 scale 1:326,856.L.I.S. would be 123__. Fill in the last two numbers please Another case of Booby lying? S.Simon - a Captain with a complete set of real paper charts. "Bobsprit" wrote in message ... Let's us have their numbers please? I don't think I'd go as far as onboard mains power, but I'd very much like to fit nav lights at least, so some sort of shoreside charging system would be good. I'd rather think ahead and install a 12V system that's capable of running some other kit further down the line (a depth sounder springs to mind, and maybe a fixed VHF). I guess it's natural to extrapolate and want to add an inverter to run the laptop (though not essential - I'm unlikely to buy into all that electronic chart stuff for the sailing I expect to do with this boat). -- Wally www.makearatherlonglinkthattakesyounowhere.com Things are always clearer in the cold, post-upload light. |

But you stated you did only "spot checks" through the entire trip because you forgot to buy batteries .. which now you claim to have bought but lost. The best was when you claimed a cross track error of 1 mile... which would require a waypoint... which you claim you didn't enter because you were doing "spot checks" to confirm a plot that you claim wasn't done because the navigation was all line of sight. Fitting nav lights and a single 12v battery, such as a smaller group 24 will be easy. You could also go with a larger grp. 27 and a small guest charger hardwired in, so you just plug her in at day's end. We have a laptop with DVD, but have been using the TV instead. The laptop actually has a bigger screen and uses less power, but the tube set is easier to use overall. RB |
