To make a safe entrance to Port Jeff at night you need....

GPS
Charts
Radar
Spotlight
Bottom contour info off charts
Forward scanning sonar

Suzanne used chart & compass. I had the GPS in my pocket the whole time. Bravo
Suzanne!

Not at all Bob... you've proved beyond a doubt that any available data or
technology would be useless due to your level of comprehension... but I will
address your statement.

Why not expand that to general navigation Bob?

BFD!

Anyone who passed 8th geometry has the skills necessary for chart and
compass navigation.

Wally feels it's hard and he'd prefer to rely on electronic aids. Mooron
agrees.

Oh, such scurrilous misrepresentation! In my study of the subject thus far,
*I* haven't found it hard. However, someone who doesn't have the benefit of
my 25+ years of land-based map & compass nav might find the learning curve a
tad steeper.

There you go again..... off on another dive for the brush line like some
panicked cow.....

I've tried to illustrate it's basic simplicity to you on many occasions
Bob.... but you continually insist that after years of sailing you don't
have any navigational skills to speak of. Electronic navigational technology
is not even remotely difficult and it should never be utilized for anything
but confirmation of a hand charted plot.

Why does this common sense fact seem to evade you??

I've taught basic navigation to most of my regular crew... once you
understand the basic nomenclature and their relation to the methodology it's
just plain common sense.

It does scare most people though.... like a fear of the unknown.... like
the reason power boaters think sailing is difficult to master.
