http://www.ace.net.au/schooner/lkss.jpg Lady Kate self-steering with hi-tech ultra-modern HSD Note stainless steel cedar bucket with oilies soaking (that's how they stay yellow, you see..) The motor is visibly not operating. Before the carp rise too violently, my tether is still secured to a cockpit strongpoint and I'm still secured to my tether. Nice self steering system. I balanced out the boat and thought I engaged the autopilot and for over 8 hours stayed on course then I noticed that I forgot to turn the autopilot on. :0) Capt. American |

1992 or 1993, I think. You can follow the whole squareboat design
controversy in outline (with references back to the 20s-30s) in back issues of WoodenBoat. Bwaaaahahahahahahhahaaa! Taddy, new paper doesn't make a new design.... then again maybe you have the only boat sailed regularly by regulars. Oz1...of the 3 twins. Hey, I just felt you purists were all due for a bit of upsetting!
Timmy, if you want to sail a square boat, be my guest. One wonders, = though, if the boat mirrors the personality or the personality mirrors = the boat? As in square...Do you perchance own a black beret and sport a = goatee? --=20 katysails s/v Chanteuse Kirie Elite 32 http://katysails.tripod.com "Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." - Robert A. Katy, surely you must realise that KonTiki was a late 40s-early
50s design! It WAS square, though.... --=20 katysails s/v Chanteuse Kirie Elite 32 http://katysails.tripod.com "Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." - Robert A. Heinlein |

That's better. Did you learn to cheese from CN? I'm impressed by the
lack of purchase on the mainsheet... What's with the adm. anchor, I thought you had a muddy bottom? More seriously, I don't think that's a good way to rig a safety line. ![]() The navigator© wrote: More seriously, I don't think that's a good way to rig a safety line. Cheers MC Perhaps I should have posed the photo. The photo does look a bit like there's one super long line (long enough to waterski with!) but that's optical illusion: there is a spare tether attahced to the rudder-post beam which appears to be a continuation of the tether I'm wearing but isn't. The tether I'm wearing is attached to a strong point about 6inchs abaft an a foot below the turning block in the foreground. Tether lengths are only 1.5m. The strong point is a 1" ply hull/deck plate anchoring a U-bolt with giant washers and a spreader plate. -- Flying Tadpole ------------------------- Learn what lies below the waves of cyberspace! http://www.internetopera.netfirms.com |
