Default Thimbles trip

Well, I must admit that I am puzzled by the whole thing. I do not believe
that the trip report was written by someone who had just skippered his first
40 mile trip. The language is all wrong! For example, he mentioned the
weather forecast - and yet did not mention the forecasted wind speed - only
that there were some storms in the area.

His "Dinner Stop" makes no sense at all! He admits that they sailed a good
distance from the shore (presumably, because it is easier). I'd guess that
they must have been about 3 miles out?? So, they must have headed in to the
shore, then dropped the anchor and then sailed back out into deep water.
This would have added at least 2 hours onto the trip! Later they arrived
at a strange port at 2am. Why would any sane person do such a thing??

Unfortunately, I don't know the area at all. I don't know the tides or the
shape of the coastline - so I don't know the correct questions to ask.

It can be very difficult to get the truth out of Bobsprit. I tried but, on
this occasion, as always, I have failed.

There is only one definite conclusion that I can make. Bob didn't skipper
a boat to the Thimbles last weekend.

Regards

A bad guess. We were only close to shore on the outward leg.
Sorry!

More lies from Mooron? Did I indicate that I was far from shore on the outward
leg? Better go back and check. We stayed NS on the LI side all the way to Port
Jeff. Nothing in my comments indicates otherwise.
SORRY!

Does that 2 hours include time for actually eating, Donal? Do you suppose we
sailed an hour out of the way to drop anchor?
Are you sure I said we in the middle of the sound on the outward leg?

Hoooh ahhh!

... since your "report" changes with every telling it's hard to place you
anywhere.

As I said, there is only one thing that I can be sure of - You didn't

How long did you stop at anchor for? What effect do you think that the
stop had on your arrival time? Why would you stop to eat when you are not
going to arrive at your destination until after midnight?

Who took the decision to stop?

Jeeze, Donal. Those are quite a few questions.
The stop cost us about 1.5 hours or a bit less. The effect is that we got to
Port Jeff about 1.5 hours later than if we didn't stop, rough guess without
checking currents. We stopped to eat because we could. There was no difference
bwteen ariving at 12:30 or 2:00 am to us. The decision went like this:
Honey Bunny, you wanna drop the hook so we can eat like grownups at the table?
Sure, baby. What's the hurry?
I'm "baby" in case you didn't know!

Hoooh ahhh!

So you're saying you felt familiar enough with the area to safely navigate
without the need to maintain a nav log??

I just landed a Mooron.
Weight: 177 lbs.
