What this sounds like to me is the typical process of national
self-destruction. People maintain their virtue and discipline and the
result is prosperity and security. Then they start taking it for
granted, get sloppy, disintegrate into non-virtue/non-disciplne and
society goes down the tubes.

BTW, speaking of ancient texts, you might find the following
interesting:

ANCIENT TEXTS RELATING TO THE OLD TESTAMENT*

Major representative examples of ancient near Eastern non-Biblical
documents that provide parallels to or shed light on various OT
passages.

EBLA TABLETS - Sumerian, Eblaite. Mid-3rd millennium B.C. Thousands of
commercial, legal, literary and epistolary texts describe the cultural
vitality and political power of a pre-patriarchal civilization in
northern Syria.

KING LISTS - Sumerian. Late 3rd millennium B.C. The reigns of Sumerian
kings before the flood are described as lasting for thousands of
years, reminding us of the longevity of the preflood patriarchs in Gen
5.

ATRAHASIS EPIC - Akkadian. Early 2nd millennium B.C. A cosmological
epic depicts creation and early human history, including the flood
(cf. Gen1-9).

Ahh...so you believe in Noah's Ark and a great flood that covered all
the earth and the tallest mountains to a minimum depth of 15 cubits
then?

Tell me, where did the water come from and where did it go afterwards?

Go on! EVERYBODY knows Thor is a little blue dude ... (c;

Actually, an early creation script says that the Elohim (plural) created
everything then Adam and Lillith out of the same clay, in their image,
as equals; but Adam and Lil fell out over Adam's habit of mounting
beasts and who got to be on top during sex. So, when YHWH (one of the
Elohim) tried to entice them into servitude in his garden, Lil refused
but Adam did not. So, unable to actually create life like other Elohim,
YHWH cloned Eve. So much for monotheism (c:

I don't make any physically impossible claims about floods that
apparently destroy all life on the planet apart from the beings
ensconsed in Noah's Ark who subsequent to all the water going,
somewhere, are able to repopulate the earth nevermind the fact that
some beasts aren't able to swim back to the islands from whence they
came.

Yeah, you worship a comic book character instead.

I don't worship a comic book character. Compare and contrast the dates
of release of Thor the Marvel comic character and the Old Norse
Sagas...

and you have been worshipping since before 1962, have you ?

You're stretching the wording in the Sagas a bit far now but that is
certainly more accurate than "a comic book character".

And so suitable for a doper such as yourself, eh Nazi boy?

Curious. I know Asatruars believe there have been historical abuses
inflicted on them by "Christians", but is there any place on planet
earth today where Asatruars are in danger of being killed or
persecuted for being Asatru?

Yes indeed. If the RRR madmen ever gain too much power this danger
will be very very real for Asatruar in the US. Of course "we" would
not be the only targets for the fundamental bigotry and insanity...
muslims for example would have to suffer the same.
And what do you mean we "believe" there have been historical abuses?
The christianization of most of Europe by fire and sword is historical
fact. All in the name of the "love" of the christian god.

Look up Charlemagne and Olaf Tryggvasson in google if you want
references.

The reason I ask is that a sizeable portion of planet earth
routinely persecutes Christians.

Well, as long as this persecution comes from muslims I'm not
surprised. America doubtlessly has done more than enough to p*ss off
all muslims of the world, and with all the fundamental madness America
also is a perfect symbol of christianity at its worst.

Sadly.

Ultimate conflict between good and evil, relationship with God,
missionary work, eternal consequences, importance of getting right
with God the first time around, doing good because it's the right
thing to do, helping people, charity... Sounds pretty engaging to
me.

Sounds nice indeed... but how many christians do _you_ know who really
do this?

Interesting. I've heard the theory of evolution refered to as a
"fairy tale for adults".

Yeah - by idiots who go so far as to deliberately falsify facts to
prove that their creationism worldview must be correct.

Pity. I just started to get the impression that you're not another
madman... now I'll have to think about it all over again.

Roll on the biblical creation vs scientific creation argument...

wheras njiky thinks Stan Lee created the universe...

whereas djirky thinks Tom Mix created the universe...
