Yeah, I know....but I haven't ever let one go OB...

Actually I did let my first winch go overboard this last weekend. It wasn't
secured properly of course, it just felt like it was since it had a really
snug fit. That wouldn't have mattered on the ST winches I'm used to working
with. On these non ST winches the handle started spinning around like a
propeller when we tacked and I started sheeting in on the Genny. It just
kinda took off like a helicopter
