How do you go about crewing on someone's boat?

Join your local yacht club as an auxiliary member...it's cheaper than a
regular membership and is limited to the "boatless"...then find out when
they're teaching the JY 15 classes...start showing up on Wednesday nights
for the beer can races and offer to be "rail meat". Don't expect to do
anything the firs couple times out except maybe get yelled at and told to
move from side to side...watch and listen to everything that is being said
and done. Watch the kids sail their Butterflies. Better yet, go sail one
of the club's Butterflies. The more you're around, the more rides you'll
get, especially if you show some aptitude.

One of the more interesting experiences this summer. . . we were sailing
north in Little Egg Harbor, as a "swarm" of butterflies (30 boats?) was
reaching across the channel (heading east), back to their dock to end their
lesson. Each boat had a kid at the tiller, each kid had a "Holy Sh*t" look
on his/her face, as they seemed completely unsure of what to do next. Each
kid made the determination to do absolutely nothing, and to allow me to
figure out how to avoid colliding with any and all of them. Fortunately the
wind was kind enough to allow me to wind my way slowly and cautiously
through the array, giving me a chance to greet and speak (very briefly) with
many of the young sailors. It was one of the coolest experiences of the
season.

Coming to this group with a question like that, well you would do better
trying to teach the proverbial pig to sing, imho.

Are you a man or a wimp hiding behind your fat wife's
circus tent of a skirt? "The Carrolls" indeed. It sounds
to me like some Christmas faggotry.

Sir,
It is an Irish name, and means either Slaughter or Warrior Champion
depending upon the celtic dictionary you choose to use. The name has quite a
history, look it up. The use of the christmas reference it quite original, I
most certianly have not heard that one before. My sexual oreintation is none
of your business. I would suggest you also leave my lovely wife out of the
conversation, as it is not only improper to involve her, you know even less
about her than you do me.

Since you use the name of "The Carrolls" in your posts
it follows that your wife IS included in the conversation
by your own choice. Also, it means your children are
included as well. Therefore, until your change your
'from' name to something other than your family I
will consider I am responding to your entire family.

I can't recall you ever having mentioned what kind
of boat you and your family sail. Do you sail at all
or do you just hang out here and harass those of us
who do?

S.Simon
