Click on the above to see why Neal will never be taken at his word, while I continously provide proof positive that I sail my (wife's!!!) boat! And do it well! Bwahahahahaha! No way does Neal EVER pass a J24. No way, no how. Billy Jane MIGHT, but I doubt it. Meanwhile, we enjoyed better cruising and comfort than any Express 30 or the like! Sailed (and I mean SAILED) through Hell's gate Friday evening (took lots of tacks near the Brother's), though we motored after that as the buildings shut the wind down. The city was beautiful and it was a clear night. Took a slip over at Jersey city Marina. Woke up early and helped rebed hardware on my friend's Galaxy 32, then cleaned her up. By 10:00 am we decided we deserved a sail, so we took everyone out on Alien for a quick sail-by of Lady Liberty. Does anyone know the deal with that fireboat that takes tours and blows the water guns for the crew? Dropped everyone off and sailed for the Verazano....under and out past Coney Island for dinner. We didn't get far offshore, so that'll have to wait a couple of weeks for that one. We hit the river again and made Hell's gate in record time. We anchored right near home off of Fort Totten and had the best "sleep" ever! Link again is: http://hometown.aol.com/bobsprit/page1.html Capt RB C&C 32 NY |

I love the disappearing jib you have there, Booby.
I bet that old iron jenny was revved up to max rpms to catch up on and pass that J-24. I don't have to resort to using a motor to overtake and pass them. I do it all the time under sail alone. You should try it sometime - being under sail, that is. He had to roll it up to keep it from flapping around in
the headwind created by the iron jenny. That is obvious. There was not enough wind to make it necessary to keep it halfway rolled up in a race with a J-24. I know how fast J-24s are. I race them all the time up on Biscayne Bay were there are some of the world's largest fleets of them. I beat them all the time. They simply are slower than my boat in all but very light winds. Bubbles is reaching down onto the J which is close hauled and badly trimmed, overlaoded and dragging an outboard. The genoa is there just partially rolled...must have been blowing a gale eh? Ozzy...you've got a sailors eye! The genoa is rolled down quite a bit. It was really strange, but maybe typical for the harbor. The wind would almost die, then pick up to 20 knots, then die again, all minutes apart. The J kept rounding up, dumping his main, and was overpowered. We ran into another J that was properly reefed. We passed him, but not as quickly. The Coronado 27 wouldn't pass ANY J24. Neal must be banging his head against the bucket right about now! RB |

to catch up on and pass that J-24. More ignorance on parade! The C&C 32 would never catch the J24 with the motor on...it's impossible with the folding prop. Best speed is 6 knots or so. On a reach we average 7.5 to catch the J. Later we met another pair of J24s (Omega on the sail) that were better handled. It took more effort to pass them as they were trimming and working at it. Let's see a Coronado 27 do that! Bwahahahahaha! Poor Neal!!! RB |

Suuuuuuurrreeee you do! That's why your boat is rated at 220 and J24s are typically rated at 174!!! Busted again! RB |

Nonsense - there's no reason why a folding prop shouldn't push you to hull speed. In
fact, one reason for a folder is that you don't have to sacrifice prop size to prevent drag. Further, unless it is very mismatched, it should allow you to go faster with sail and engine than engine alone (up to a point). I normally power at 7 knots , but I often motorsail at 8-9 knots. Is it possible those boats with "omegas" on the sail were Solings? Either way, you should be faster then a Soling or J24 in many conditions. And why would you brag about being faster than a C&C 27? Nonsense - there's no reason why a folding prop shouldn't push you to hull
speed. In fact, one reason for a folder is that you don' Jeff, speed for the 32 under power is listed as 6 knots. I can make a bit better in calm water. With a three blade fixed she'll make hull speed at far lower RPMs. My buddy's J-30 could easily make 7 knots with a fixed blade. Now he tends to make 5 with a fold unless he pushes it. RB |

Crew on the J24 is waving! Maybe they should pull the outboard up!
Whyshould they? They didn't know they were racing. Maybe you should head up to be on the same course as them or can't you do that because the candyass cabin top traveler leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to trimming the main. No real sailboat has a traveler mounted on the coach roof. No real sailor would own such a boat. All those fine Hunters have coach roof travelers. Express Yachts new where to locate the traveler to attract experienced sailors. Our genoa is down to 120 I guess you were reaching down on the J24 doing 11 kts and got scared. "CANDChelp" wrote in message ... J24's exceed their hull speed and yours with ease. They will also outpoint you to a HUGE extent. J24 are not some kind of magic boat. Just because they beat any and all boats you have ever sailed to such an extent that you are reduced to Photoshopping then being overtaken in your pics does not mean that I have any trouble handily beating them in anything but light air. J24s are not known as planing boats. They are keel boats and can plane off in certain conditions like any keel boat but they are not like a sailboard that is designed to plane. You show how limited your experience is and how little you know and how you don't even have sufficient understanding of sailboats enough to even guess what us real sailors know about them, let alone have even one chance in a million of passing off your bull**** on us. The

She was from a club, but I think there's more than one. We also saw a few Colgate 26's having fun. But it was this boat that really looked dramatic as we approached the Verazano. Sadly, I have took no pics of her sailing, but she was quite a site. The unstayed mast is incredibly thick at the base, so much so that I'd called it a windage issue. She has a HUGE main and was flying a very small chute. http://members.aol.com/bobsprit/images/ssb2too.jpg RB |
