Who'll Bet on Bob?
Noblesse oblige, Mooron, noblesse oblige
Just shut up and get on with it. Capt Neal abdicated after a long and profitable reign, MC in the end refused the crown, Bobsprit took it by default, but lacked, er, substance, you've just quietly slipped into the position. You're there now. Think of the job as a maidenly embrace, with perhaps a touch of iron in her. Flying Tadpole "Capt. Mooron" wrote: ABANDON SHIP! AHoGhaaa! Doing the East River at night is beautiful, but you need to keep a
serious debris watch. There is a lot of big stuff floating around. Also, they are doing some constructiion on the highway and the channel is narrowed to almost 1/2 from 72nd St to 50th St. with large barges cranes and miscl. equipment. Eldridge is on the boat, but using on line tide tables and the fact
that current change at H gate is 2 hrs after High or low tide at the Battery, Hell gate should begin the ebb around 9:00PM Fri . Its an hour 15 min from C.I. to Hellgate and the current turns at Cryder Point 30 min before H gate. so, you can push a 1/2 to 1kn current and leave at 7:45 PM and go thru at slack or leave at 8:30 and ride fair all the way. ,On 22 Jul 2003 17:51:57 GMT, (CANDChelp) wrote: Doing the East River at night is beautiful, but you need to keep a serious debris watch. Neal have been made to walk the plank. Nobody has managed that feat here as yet... with Neal anyway. Bob's as thick as a short plank - maybe you could just stipulate it done. And let's face it, unless we use my 6500 tonne icebreaker, the lever arm of Bob on the end of even a 2m long plank is going to make even your crab crusher turn turtle. Besides, there are laws against raw sewerage discharge almost everywhere. Finally, you'd have to be in more than a couple metres of water to make it worthwhile, and how are you going to get Bob that far from shore? PDW |
