I think you need to get your knotmeter fixed. What does it read when
you're sitting at the dock? 7kts? Knotmeter showed better than 12 knots a few times. GPS fluxuated between 9 and 10.5. RB |

Sounds like you had a nice dream. Now try and go sailing.
-- ---- Steve S/V Pony Express "Bobsprit" wrote in message ... Damn, MY C&C is quick!!!! Or should I say...My WIFE'S C&C is quick??!!! Good strong gusty day with just the two of us aboard. Most of my friends were out...a Ericson 35, Catalina 34, J30, J24...and plenty of other boats charging around the chop. Only the J30 was faster, but not by much. Of course, with small sailboats, "not by much" is what counts. Off the wind we touched 11 knots and wasn't we weren't ideally trimmed. My friend's J30 touched 12, but he was having a far rougher ride for that extra knot. We switched over to the 100% just to see what's what and WOW! It's a new jib and the boat pointed like the devil. Hull speed or better and far better control. We never reefed the main, though we should have. I left the 100% up for tomorrow. Downwind, feeling like a surfer, I saw a boat gaining on me steadily. He caught up quick...A C&C 34+ or XL. He passed me and the J30 and looked comfortable doing it. After a while, my friend with the J30 came aboard to have a go. He felt the C&C was "great" offering real cruising comfort and good speed. He felt feedback on the wheel was "amazing." He was impressed overall, but hated the mid-boom sheeting. He said he'd spend 5-700 bucks and change it. He called the C&C a "sailors' boat." No doubt that's ammo for the group! We decided to come home....great fight on HBO tonight and no cable aboard. Tomorrow looks like another great sailing day! Pics coming soon! Hope you all got out there today.... RB |

Another in a long series of lies and exaggerations!
You're right. My friend didn't really hate the mid-boom sheeting. He just felt that it didn't invite constant tweaking and certainly promoted poor trim for singlehanding. RB |

Poor trim. That's what bob's sailing is all about.

And I was only crewing on a boat that always finished in the top 3 usually 1st
in the toughest J30 fleet in the Country. Yeah, suuuurrre you were. But you only saw 10 knots once! Bwahahahahahhhaha! RB |
