Default Do the newer versions of Windoze cough up these sorts of reports?

Yes, as many as desired, but none of them say, "Harry's MacBook Air",
or have any other reference to
'Harry'.

My task of the moment is getting my wife's Windoze computer to have our
server show up as a shared device or device, like it does on our macs.
So far I haven't figured out which rosetta stone I need to do this.

You can do it wirelessly, ethernet, or through a usb port or possibly
through bluetooth if your stuff is close enough together.*AND* You have
to set up a LAN like Mr Luddite said.

Do you have something specific to suggest? I already know I can connect
wired or wirelessly. USB and bluetooth are not practical because of
distance. But that's not the issue. The issue is getting it to show up
as a shared device. But I may have found the answer, once I get back to
that task. My Mac's found the server as a device right away, without any
additional effort on my part.

Well do it and see if the server shows up on your device list
