The movie came out when I was living in Connecticut. I was "exploring"

at the time, dating different girls every week or so. All they wanted

to do was see "Dr. Zhivago". I must have seen it 5 times in 3 months.

Got stuck in New York overnight with wife and kids (on way to
Disneyworld) way back in the early 90's. A guy in tux and violin

You *had* to do it, huh? I didn't even open the youtube link and I
knew it was "Laura's Theme". Now it's stuck in my head for the rest of

It's Lara's Theme, named for the character Lara Antipova. Lara is a
Russian name, Laura is not. The familiar version of Lara, used by family
members and close friends, would be...Larissa. I have a cousin Lara, but
she uses the variant Laryssa, which is also acceptable among Russians.
Her grandmother's first name was Tonya, also Russian.
