Most of the famous mimes were just doing non-offensive funny stuff, and
the white face *some* of them used was not there to depict white people.
Many circus clowns use whiteface. Do you think they are depicting white
people?

The blackfacers were making fun of what they thought was the
stereotypical behavior of black people.
