Clever boat names
Rufus Gutz
Rufus "L"
are two locally named boats.
Far Canal is another I have seen.
However sailing yesterday I heard a scratchy communication that sounded like
Pan Pan Pan
I listened again and sure enough there is was again. I answered, asking the
vessel making the call whether they were amking a distrass call.
Thye response was the vessel they were calling was Fern
Message was "Fern" "Fern" "Fern" and in the static sounded almost like Pan
Pan Pan....so I was wrong....no need to cancel my Coastguard membership.

Also knew of a lawyer's boat named "The Courthouse." His secretary
would tell clients that he was not in because he was at the
courthouse.
We once saw a boat called "Job Site". I could imagine the owner's
secretary telling people "He's out on the job site and can't be
reached."
