Is there any solution one uses to soak carb bodies to get off that crud?
They call it carb cleaner and the sell it at auto parts houses.

I call it old pre mix gas, and I have a couple of gallons of it in my
shed.
Steve
Carb cleaner will dissolve many plastics. It will remove paint, and
can give you a nasty skin burn in next to no time. It is what you
want. Run that old premix through a strainer to take out the leaves
and dead flies, and add it to you cars tank at say 10%. My 22 ft
fish/ski has a pair of 25 gal tanks, and if it was my stale gas I
would pour a gallon in each tank.

Carb cleaner also removes old varnish from gelcoat.
