Report Cites Abuses of Child-Labor Law
Published: Wednesday, August 19, 1992

One hundred and thirty children, including a 7-year-old, were found
illegally employed in New York City factories during the first six
months of the year, the State Labor Department reported yesterday.

That finding is an indication of an even greater problem of child-labor
law violations throughout the state, said the department's director of
labor standards, Richard J. Polsinello.

Inspections of 505 companies throughout the state during the first three
months of the year uncovered 1,023 labor-law violations, including
illegal employment of 554 children, Mr. Polsinello said.
