No need to go that far:

Report Cites Abuses of Child-Labor Law
Published: Wednesday, August 19, 1992

One hundred and thirty children, including a 7-year-old, were found
illegally employed in New York City factories during the first six
months of the year, the State Labor Department reported yesterday.

That finding is an indication of an even greater problem of child-labor
law violations throughout the state, said the department's director of
labor standards, Richard J. Polsinello.

Inspections of 505 companies throughout the state during the first three
months of the year uncovered 1,023 labor-law violations, including
illegal employment of 554 children, Mr. Polsinello said.

Business regulations came and come about because businesses won't
behave.

Of course. How silly of me. What was I thinking?

Eisboch

Oh, come on...you know how easy it would be to cite examples.
Here's an easy one: child labor regulations and laws.
Why do you think they came about?

Yeah...and in the last couple of weeks, we have...The Peanut Corporation
of America.

When a company or the management of a company breaks the law they should be
prosecuted.
There are millions of companies. Do you think the majority break the law?

There are many laws designed to protect workers, children, the public,
et cetera, from the "whatever we can get away with" rules of many
corporations. These have been promulgated and passed over the last
century and a half because of, typically, outrageous violations by
corporations. It usually takes "outrageous" to force state or national
legislatures to take action.

Do I think the majority of corporations break the law? Deliberately,
many do. Inadvertently, many do. Enough do so that we need tight
regulations on business and oversight of their activities.

Are you saying I am supposed to trust a Citibank, an Exxon, a Wyeth, a
Goodrich to do right by me? I sure hope not.

Actually, after coming back after several months of staying away from
this zoo and reading the posts to this NG it is clear you all are
complete assholes with no life.

Try to find one and move on.

---------------------------------

Care to point us to your positive contributions?

Eisboch

(dislikes "Google Groups")

Care to point out FloridaJim's?

Not that I particularly care what you think but Jim has supported this
NG for many years with his practical and accurate knowledge of boat
systems, particularly of outdrives and electrical systems.
He's right almost always in a difficult arms-length diagnosis of a
problem. His helpful boating contributions outnumber yours by an order
of magnitude.

Jim doesn't cloud his opinions in cleverly crafted comments that leave
lots of wiggle room like you.
What you see or hear is what you get. You may disagree, but his
opinion is honest.

I know the real Jim. You don't. You just happened to have ****ed him
off.

Eisboch

Your buddy FloridaJim seemed ****ed off just about every time he showed
up here. I presume he still is. Sorry, I don't remember his "helpful"
posts. What handle did he use then?

Dick,
Here is a more up to date glimpse of how Harry's unions are " Furthering
the American Dream".

Might be looking for a flat spot to set on for a couple of days during
warmer weather. Anything like that available at the Circle E Ranch?
