Default Interior carpet recommendations?

Boat had horrible domestic (Red) carpet which luckily caught diesel
overflow!

I took it all out and found only floorboard underneath, painted grey.

I would like to put something on the floor and am inclined toward sisal,
but edging might be a problem(?)

Anyone done something like this?

You need the rubber-backed flock carpeting which is sold in many carpet
shops and is waterproof. This stuff is marketed under different brand names,
in many designs, and is quit thin and easy to cut. The flock design is
embedded into the rubber, and therefore has no fraying problems when cutting
to shape to fit curved cabin soles.
