I would like to spend a weekend at Marthas Vineyard. Has anyone gone there
before? Where can I get a transient slip or a mooring. What day of the week is
best to go? Where is it best to go? I'll be going from Hewitts Cove in Hingham,
MA . My boat is a Searay 310 34' overall Thanks In Advance,
Frank

There are good-sized mooring fields in Vineyard Haven and Edgartown.
Edgartown has a commercial launch service (Oldport, same as Block and
Newport),

VH is a charming (I think) working harbor with ferries, barges, etc
coming and going. The town is dry. I don't know whether BYOB is
permitted at the Black Dog tavern.

Edgartown is an expensive-looking town built by prosperous sea
captains. Every house appears to have professional landscaping
service. There are fine restaurants with prices to match. Definitely
not dry.
