Boat Builders:
I am trying to work on starting a 19' sail boat. Plans are located at
http://www.internetworkconsulting.net/pilgrim590. The plans call for a 2.5
fot beam that's 1.25" and 2.25" to ben bent 5cm over the 2.5 ft. How can
this be acomplished?
It can be done by steam bending, as long as you use a good bending wood
like oak or ash. Starting with a longer piece (~4') will give you more
leverage to make the bend and help insure that the bend is even along
the length. You'll also need to build a form to bend around and have a
supply of sturdy clamps on hand.
