Was 40,000, now 53,000.
How's that free market economy working out for you, America?
I heard that's about 10% of their work force.
So that's maybe 500,000 people working for Citigroup.
Twice as many employees as GM has.
What are these Citigroup employees making? Cars? Refrigerators?
Boats?
Or are they hauling trash, fixing potholes, building or repairing
houses and garages?
Maybe they're teaching, doctoring and nursing?
Perhaps they are plumbing, fixing furnaces, or running wiring.
Could be they are foresting, mining, farming or raising cattle.
Driving trucks? Laying and maintaining rail track?
500,000 is a big workforce.
That many people can do a lot for the economy.
I bet we're gonna really miss them.
