Default Those Were the Days......

Perusing the September 1971 issue of the magazine with which I am
associated, I found an interesting ad for some brand new Uniflite
boats.

One is a flybridge sedan, and the copy reads:

And for those seeking a slightly smaller boat or on a more restricted
budget:

Things have changed a bit......but not as much as it might first
appear all things considered. At least in this end of the country, a
$1000 monthly salary
was considered very good money back in 1971- and a lot of people got
by rather nicely on considerably less. (Run-of-the-mill Seattle area
homes were
$12-15,000 back then, with prices in the most exclusive neighborhoods
running as mind-boggling high as $30-35,000).

I guess it still takes a lot of people about a year's income to buy a
new 27' boat- so in some respects all that has happened is the decimal
point has moved. :-)
