...........your marina?
For me............26 miles...........a little over 1/2 hour drive.
When I used a Marina.... about 5 miles, but with a $350 minimum slip
fee.... I'm now trailering again.... about 1.5 miles....
$350?
Cripes - that's cheap.
Yeah... regional.. I know.
We have a price war going on at the marinas now, one o them has dropped
to 960.00 for the summer season (10 x 30 finger dock) they figure it is
better to get something rather than nothing. The marina I was in last
year was over 30% empty, and wthe 30 ft and smaller were about 60%
empty. It will only get worse if the clowns push through the CO2 crap
and kill what is left of the auto companies here.
I pulled the boat about a year ago when my dockage went from $200 to
$350 overnight.
Now, over 4 years, property values have increased about 309%......
Our generation's parents and grand-parents came to this (then
affordable) coastal region because they could escape the horrors of
WWII and begin to build (Ozzie and Harriet like) families from the
ruins of previous lives. They escaped the bullets, egregious living
conditions, and loneliness of coral atolls for the promise of sun,
sand, surf, suds, and sex. They created dances: the shag, enjoyed
music: beach music, and carved out a society that was safe and
nurturing for us kids.....
The fishing fleet has died, the nouveau riche has razed the piers and
night spots for condos, and the beach music is being replaced by
rap...
the death of the greatest generation and the loss of any trace that
explains their travails..... I feel a *deep* sense of loss.....
