fuel supply problem for inboard

I forgot to mention that I have already put on a new fuel filter and
have really pulled the carbie apart and have blown out all the
passages in the carbie. Thanks for the suggestion of the replacement
kit.

I have just aquired an older style ski boat with a 202 engine and
weber carbie. On my first run out it coughed and spluttered but
eventually we got it up to 40mph. On the way back in it kept
stalling under idle. We decided to clean out the carbie and found a
bit of muck in jets and filters. Tried again, this time worse.
Didn't even get 50m off shore and almost flattened battery. Took
petrol pump off...replaced pump, put in fuel shut off valve...tried
again. Still no joy...coughs and splutters and cuts out under load.
Any suggestions?
I would start with a good fuel filter to keep from reinfecting
yourself, then really clean the carb instead of trying to get lucky.
You should be able to find a kit. Tear it down and blow out all the
passages, replace the gaskets and needle (from the kit). Then blow
out the fuel lines after the filter and try again.
How do you know you don't have an ignition problem?
