Glad to see this question. My own W40 oil pres runs 70 psi above about
1800 rpm and falls off very little as rpm comes down. Can't remember
what it is at lower speeds. The boat was new to me last year, 27 yrs
old (the boat not me...) and the engine has 2440 hrs. I thought this
pressure was high and contacted Hansen Marine in Marblehead MA. Their
service engr thought it was OK at that pressure but didn't have a lot
of specifics as to why that's ok. What was more convincing that I
could live with it is that the only way to modify is to disassemble the
whole engine to get at the pump. Maybe this high pressure is in some
way connected to the main bearing seal oil drip which I experience and
is known to be part of this engine's "charm."
