Can anyone recommend a good trailer boat that might go behind a VW

We had pretty good luck with occasionally towing a '82 Macgregor 21
behind the 1400 cc of roaring squirrel that was our Datsun B210. BUT
that was a rear-wheel drive car with standard transmission, the boat and
trailer were maybe 2,000 #, and I didn't drive particularly quickly:
Starts and stops required some planning.

Rather than get a new car, though, I'd find a mooring some place, and
drag the boat there and back once each season. Find another mooring the
next year, and so forth, getting to know each area better.

We also had a '66 Tempest that hardly noticed the boat was behind it.
Did a lot of trailing with that, but used the boat quite a bit more when
we got a mooring. Stepping and unstepping the mast gets old quickly.
