Trim motor out on 1973 Johnson. Troubleshooting. UGH! When it rains it pours :(
No kidding about the gas usage. We can eat through a 6 gallon remote
on this old thing in about 45 minutes of 3/4 throttle cruising.
Unbelieveable. I bought a 13 gallon tank from Overtons I am going to
try. 45 minutes of running on todays gas prices + oil = about 24.00
per 6 gallons burned. A typical day trip we will go through about 4-5
tanks. So a day long trip just in fuel is about 60 bux. Thats a lot of
bread just boat fuel alone. This isnt a Yacht either just a 27ft
pontoon. Crazy! But a new replacement 115 outboard is around $7-8,000
bux. This one is paid for ;-)

Those 30 year old 2 strokes are gas hogs but they can make a great mooring

I gave may last old 2 stroke away.
I would consider the new high pressure 2 strokes but no more old multiple
carbureted hogs for me.
For boats/motors, RVs, trucks and cars, try to find something around 10
years old or less.
I cost way to much for repairs now and parts are harder to find than ever.
