Those sites should answer all your questions. If you're going to have
outside covers, consider the open cell foam that will drain and can be
rinsed.
Why would you want the bother of draining water from open cell foam when
closed cell foam can't get water into it in the first place?? Not only will
you get water into open cell foam but over time you will get dirt into there
as well and this is prime territory for odour producing fungi and bacteria.
Maybe you can wash out the dirt and use a dilute bleach solution to
partially disinfect the foam but closed cell foam would avoid all of this.
