Default Ficht 150, 2000 -- engine cuts out intermittently

Thanks about the message regarding the cross posting, I don't have a clue
Another symptom that may be related; when starting the engine -- it
cranks

fine. Immediatley after the engine starts, the motor will race and then
die
down, it may do this 1, 2 or 3 times before settling in on a normal idle.
There also seems to be excessive oil when the engine is going through this
up and down rev.

When a direct injected motor races after first start, most of the time you
will find extra fuel introduced into the intake tract. The likely candidate
is a pinhole in the fuel pump diaphragm where gas leaks into one of the
pulse lines and then into the crankcase. Remove each fuel pump and oil pump
pulse line (since you mentioned excessive oil) and inspect for fluid leakage
while priming each system.

A vapor separator tank float and needle valve can stick open occasionally
causing fuel to pass into the intake thru the small vent hose on top. Also,
it is rare, but a throttle position sensor malfunction will change rpm from
what it should be.

If you don't have a service manual and are not comfortable performing these
procedures, enlist the services of a trained professional.
