This is positively delicious

...instead of making a token gesture in the backyard of Bush's 2004
political opponent just to take a jab at Bush.
It's ironic, though, that he singled out the folks in Massachusetts (a
very "Blue" state) as those most in need of help.
Ya gotta know the territory.........
Joe Kennedy (former MA Congressman, Bobby's son, Teddy's nephew) has been
distributing discounted heating oil in MA for years through his Citizen's
Energy Corp. Its a great company that he set up on his own initiative, and
it does real good directly among those who need the help, without he
truckloads of administrative crap that customarily go with such plans. Even
though he supposedly left public life some years ago to keep his family out
of range of the newsas*$oles and to run Citizen's Energy, Joe is perennially
touted as a likely candidate for Governor.... Senator....Congress.....
VP....take your pick.... because he is very smart, articulate, photogenic,
common sensible (insofar as a dem is able bg) and has an inarguable track
record as a successful leader in both private and public sectors. With the
Kennedy name in MA, he is, in short, the 800 lb gorilla, whether he declares
or not.
Bill Delahunt had been a reasonably well known and successful local hack/pol
for many years until he managed to get himself into Congress some years ago.
Now that he's got a Federal meal ticket, Delahunt has aspirations. He
suffers, however, from the standard malady of a lot of pols -- he's a stiff
when speaking ex temp on the stump. But the Kennedys were born with that
gene. (Its the blarney, I guess) Any Dem in MA with statewide or federal
aspirations lives in fear that Joe K may decide to climb back into the ring.
There's no doubt in my mind that this oil deal, while likely (potentially)
doing someone some good, was conceived as a way to portray Delahunt on a par
with Kennedy in at least one area, or to try to neutralize just one of the
factors that would make Joe Kennedy a friendly candidate to so many folks
here.
