Agreed....Never saw an early retirement deal that was anything more

Well that is just so much horse crap. I've done several early
retirement deals. They are an alternative to a general reduction in
force when a company hits a down cycle which all do at times.

They are a dangerous alternative in that you cannot discriminate. You
have to offer the deal to all employees in the class. You risk losing
good esperienced high producing employees with the so called deadwood.
