Your company wouldn't have allowed you to take early
retirement if you were
contributing to profits. The reason that you were able to
take early
retirement is that you were no longer productive. In other
words, you had
become a drain on resources.... you weren't worth the money
that they were
paying you... you were a leech.

I retired early, but it wasn't the company's wish. It actually
took me three
attempts before it finally stuck. They kept asking what it
would take for me to
stay, and the first two times I made some hefty demands, and
they completely
capitulated. The third time, I really wanted out, and told them
I was not
interested in staying under any circumstances.
