Calif. couple sentenced in military fraud Jun 8, 2004
Spring Valley-based Supply Depot Inc. sold the military substandard wire
rope to connect wing flaps and rudders to cockpit flight control systems in
the B-1 bomber, F-14 Tomcat and B-52 bomber, according to Carol Lam, the
U.S. attorney in San Diego. The actions by Gerald and Rosemarie Dillon in
1999 and 2000 forced the military to ground the planes, prosecutors said.

The wire rope at issue was used for a variety of purposes, including as
aircraft cable to connect wing flaps and rudders to cockpit flight control
systems of certain aircraft, including the B-1 Bomber, F-4 Phantom, B-52
Stratofortress and the F-14 Tomcat. The casters fraudulently substituted by
the defendants were approved for use on scaffolding that serviced the B-1
vomber and for use in transporting bombs and fuel tanks to and from military
