For the first time ever, I am docked next to an identical boat,
another 8.5 M S2. His boat seems to be a year newer but has nearly
identical lines. However, I have always suspected that my boat is
slightly down at the bow, that is, she doesnt float parallel to the
indicated waterline. His boat does float right. I have no excess
weight in the bow and try to concentrate weight in the stern so what
is happening here? Even when the mast was down she floated this way.
My boat has always been this way but I am just wondering.
Bow-down is a lot less problem than stern down when you're moving.
Enjoy! The "problem" is minor, and one that many racers would love to
have.
