Looking for another skirt to use on my Redline, one that replaces
"bombproof" with "easy to put on". Been going to the lake lately to
play with the kiddies, and would like something easier to use than
the skirt I have now. Still want to be able to roll, deflect paddle
blows from 9 year olds, etc. so touring units are out.

Huh? Why would a touring skirt inhibit your ability to roll be unable
to deflect paddle blows.

In calm water with only one or two assailants, no worries.

But when surrounded by a flotilla of youth in canoes, jon boats and
rafts, all of whom are focused with single minded intensity upon
upending one ~40 year old in a kayak, the requirement exists for
something a little more secure.

Okay. I'm still wondering why you think a spray skirt for a touring kayak
would be less secure than a whitewater skirt. Granted, the kevlar
reinforced skirts on the market these days might provide greater abrasion
resistance but there are lots of neopreme skirts for touring kayaks that
have to stand up to significant abuse. Touring kayaks are not always
paddled in fla****er. Even our local lake can 2-3 breaking wind waves
fairly often and having a skirt implode while attempting a surf landing in
4'+ breaking waves or dealing with a 6-8' rogue wave offshore requires a
skirt every bit as secure as one you'd put on a whitewater boat. Rolling a
touring kayak with a leaky skirt isn't much fun either.
