Tony,
$1600 is tax at 8%. So, if I take your 19500 and add an extra 500 for
shipping, that makes 20,000. Add tax and we're up to 21,600. That makes
for a $1,400 cleared for the dealer.
So, how much is fair and reasonable. They've got me by the short hairs
since it's the beginning of summer! I should have done this in November.

First you have to back out the tax. How much of this price is that.
Second you have to know how much delivery cost to California. Since that
boat was built in Knoxville, TN your probably talking about $1000 for
shipping.
Then there is a certain amount of prep work that the dealer has to do.
Then what options do you have on this boat. Custom cover?, Single or
tandum trailer?, Trailer have disk brakes? What prop (SS or Aluminum)?

Bottom line - no way to really know for sure as each dealer has a
different price depending on how many boats he purchases and how long he
has had it paying interest for floor plan.

Having said all that - that boat here in Alabama sells for about $19,500
plus tax w/ a single axle trailer and no cover and aluminum prop.
I would say you have 500 in shipping more than here. So start at $20,000
and add any addional stuff plus the tax and see where you are.

23,000 after tax seems like a lot of money for a little boat with a
trailer.
I'm looking at a 2005 SeaRay 185 6 cyl carburetor (not injected) 4.3.
How much markup do these dealers have for a boat like this in California?
Is 23,000 a fair price for this boat or should I ask for a lower price
and how much lower?
