Just luck. My belts were 6 years old also. Looked fine-no serious wear
evident. In fact, I marveled at how good they looked. The P/S belt
failed, breaking cleanly. Derailed the ALT belt. Learned lesson quick.
replace every 4 years or 400 hrs, and carry spares.
