I would use epoxy glue to secure wooden plugs ... dowels(oak would be nice) or
match sticks would work... depending on the amount of looseness.

A 'proper' way to do it would be to drill the wallowed out screwhole
to a slightly bigger size, put some glue in the hole, then tap in an
appropriate sized dowel. You more than likely don't even have to wait
for the glue to set before rehanging the speakers.
