Quicksilver LaserII
I've been told the same thing about different props. To date, I have NOT
had to purchase a different thrust washer to make either a Stiletto, Ron
Hill, Quicksilver SS or original Alum prop work on either of my alpha one
drives. YEs, I'm kind of crazy and have purchased and sold a dozen props on
e-bay to find the ones that were 'right' for various applications (i.e. one
for just cruising, one for pulling tubes and skiers, etc).
One was a 1990 MR drive hooked to a 3.0L and now I have a 2003 Gen 2drive
hooked to a 5.0L and so far everything has fit with the same OEM washer.
WRT the prop "working", that is a decision you have to make if it suits your
needs. You need to find a combination of pitch and blade size (and
quantity) that works for what you want. For instance, my new 5.0L came with
a 21P Alum prop. I tried several and have found for 'general use' the best
is a 4 blade 20P Stilletto. However, I'm still keeping my 19P 3 blade
Stilletto (give a little better hole shot) and my 21P Quicksilver (better
for light loads and when top speed is important) and sold my 17P props
leftover from the 3.0L days on e-bay.
Your application may be different, but I'd try it first before spending the
$$. Hope this helps

I picked up a used SS prop for my 2003 Mercury 125hp Sal****er motor.
It's
a Quicksilver Laser II. Part number is 48-16992A40 22P. What do I need
in
the way of a thrust washer? I believe I need a 13191A1 washer. Is that
correct? And where can I purchase one on LI (Nassau)?
Also, any opinions on the prop? The original is a 12.75x21 RH and this is
a
13.75x22 RH. Anyone forsee any problems? WOT presently is 5000rpm.
Mercury says WOT should be between 4750 and 5200. Thanks.
