Default Who's the fastest of them all...

I just found this bit on the Fox iF-20. It looks like Hobie
France is coming out with a 154 lb 20' cat. This should
be damn fast. I didn't think manufacturer were making
much effort to lighten the production cats.

Weight on Cat's can be lighter, but cost and demand
has kept the lighter carbon technology from being more
widely used. Perhaps that is finally changing.

I think many people feel that if it only weighs 150 lbs,
why should it cost so much? It will take a lot more sales
to distribute the the tooling cost over more units, to make
these things economical, and with hull design changes
coming so fast the production numbers never get high.

This Hobie Fox iF-20 looks like a fine machine too.
I'd like to see it in a shoot out with the Marston 20.

Among beach cats, the Tornado still reigns apparently, except
for the Marstrom 20 which is a boat I'd like very much to see.
