Local Bay Area guy was a fellow prisoner. Says McCain not sharpest knife
in the drawer. What was accomplished by not leaving fellow prisoners
behind? Guy in Stockton, California was a Hanoi Hilton resident. Later
was a contracted instructor for the military in handling being a POW. He
was shot down by a guy with an AK47 and a magic bullet entering he jet
intake. He says after a couple weeks, tell them anything they want to
know, as nothing is secret by then that you are aware of.

McCain did his best to uphold the Code Of Conduct and that is worthy
of something if you believe in your enlistment oath at all.
I understand it is pentagon wishful thinking by people who may have
never left the E ring for most of their career but we all had to learn
it and were supposed to believe it.
I also know my father was a POW in WWII and he says you do what you
have to do to survive.
I will give the Germans credit, they were soldiers, not torturers or
murderers.
This was after Ambleve tho and most of them understood they might have
to actually answer for their crimes. For about half the time he was
with them, they were running toward the American lines trying to get
away from the Russians. Everyone was hungry.
