I had the same, I used a rotary cup brush on my angle grinder to clean up
the metal, then I hand painted it with Galvofroid (cold galvanising paint)
and finished it with an aluminium paint - good as new!

I have a Snipe trailer that is looking "shabby".
Whilst it is galvanised, it is looking tired.
Is there any point painting it with say smooth hamerite or is it best

left
as bare galvanising?
Thanks
Garry

Galv does not take paint well. You need a special micaceous primer,

little
else will grip galv, all paints eventually peel off, even if properly
primed.
The only other alternative is to strip the trailer down and have it hot
dipped galvanised. London Galvanising are just one company who will do

this.
