I've very litle knowledge of boats, this being my first one and all.
Here's the story: I took my boat (1974 Dan Arena 18ft. Deep-V fiberglass hull, with 225 HP OMC Sterndrive) out last weekend and after 10-15 minutes on the lake the engine completely shut down. One deep, hard *thud* was all I heard and the engine just stopped. When turning the ignition key, the starter clicks hard but is unable to crank the engine over. I was told, over the phone, that it may have "hydrolocked" but I can find no traces of water in the oil. They shop also sad they wouldn't be able to look at it for another month. The boat hadn't been driven for several months before taking it out that fateful morning and I've only puschased it 9 months ago. Ouch. Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated, Steve |
