Default Canoe in 2 halves?

I understand that people have built Canadian style canoes that join in
the centre. Do you know how the join is made as a friend wishes to
build one but is not sure as to how he can get a watertight strong seal.
Thanks
Dave

With kayaks, and Bell boats, I believe each half is independently
watertight - they end with a flat bulkhead. The bulkheads are then
joined. Would this approach work?

The website mentioned in the other post is very useful and I'm presently
seeking advice from there too.

As regards the bolting together of 2 bulkheads - we have considered
this but not sure how we can water ingress around the bolts? We wonder
if rubber washers would suffice?

Thanks for your help to date.

Dave

There's an open canoe oriented website/forum where you might get some
more advice, if you haven't found it yet go have a look at
http://www.songofthepaddle.co.uk/
