Default Campervan and Kayak

I have a VW campervan with a top that hinges up from the side and I want to

Is the hinge up the whole length of the roof line? If there's some
space fore and aft you'll only need bars there, though of course
deploying the extra roof space with a boat in the top will be a bit
of a problem...

Otherise, if you haven't got the boat yet you might consider
something like a Feathercraft, which you can take to bits and store
inside.
