Buy an OS map. I would get in at the rowing club below the Prince Albert Bridge. Unless the river is very high, the only significant hazard is the rapid at Jackfield. The degree of difficulty depends on the river level and your ability. You can get out on the left hand river bank above the rapid, inspect the rapid and make your own judgement. It is quite a pleasant paddle to Bridgnorth. I would get out on the left bank immediately below the bridge. There is a difficult climb up to a footpath and a car-park. There may be easier places. ...or get out at the Canoe Club above the bridge. You could join in with the 'race' which is on 17 August, I believe, along this course. No need to inspect the rapid during the race - just watch where everyone else goes, then choose a different line...:-) Allan Bennett Not a fan of current skills -- |
