Took a slow, leisurely 6 hr. paddle today; 10 miles on the North Fork of the Shenandoah River in Virginia. Put in was at Burnshire Bridge near Woodstock, VA. Take out was at Buck Hedley low-water bridge. I paddled 3 mi. past my scheduled take out. Luckily, I met a friend driving a tractor across the bridge where I ended up, and he gave me a ride back to my car. Seat back was comfortable. I had no back pain at all. But, my left thigh would occasionally cramp. I adjust the foot braces so my thighs are braced against the sides of the cockpit. In calm water I can stretch my legs and relax a bit. Also, the cockpit is big enough to draw my knees up against my chest and exercise the muscles and joints. It helps a lot. Of course, getting out for an occasional stretch does wonders.
