Default Sea Kayaking in El Paso?

I am headed to El Paso, TX on Tuesday and may have time for a short paddle. I
am not interested in white water, but all varieties of sea/touring kayaking.
Can anyone suggest a place to go?

Nothing there but the El Paso River, and it's mostly dried up unless there
has been quite a bit of rain upstream.

How about the Rio Grande above where it turns north?

You might have to go as far north as Elephant butte Reservoir to find any water
that looks deep enough to be a "sea"... ;-)

The Rio Grande at Albuquerque is a mud puddle in the summer, and barely a couple
feet deep otherwise. Still, deep enough for a kayak some months...

I'm back from El Paso and due to the weather here in MD cut the trip short
anyway. I looked at the Rio Grande at El Paso, and lets just say it was not
very grand.

Thanks anyway.

Water is very scarce there. Kayaking in El Paso is about as practicle as
snow skiing there.
